"Ready to drink, this wonderfully juicy Rasteau is a real treat."

"A full, spicy nose with hints of smoked bacon and terracotta. Although well-concentrated, this Rasteau is not overly powerful, with a fresh, elegant palate that finishes with a lovely interplay of fine tannins and mineral freshness." (James Suckling 2022).

Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

This important wine merchant, which for a long time wished to remain anonymous, skillfully produces wine for its many buyers and customers. Under the influence of the new generation, it no longer hides, buys vineyards, and produces classic wines that are highly recommended.

About the estate:

After managing the family estate – Ch. Maucoil in Châteauneuf-du-Pape – Bénédicte Bonnet spent nine years working for the Lavau brothers' wine trading company. In 2014, she took over several estates, including Dom. les Évigneaux in Rasteau (12 hectares), with the aim of promoting certain little-known Rhône terroirs.

About wine:

Salty notes of crushed earth and hints of clay accentuate the decadent flavors of blackberry and raspberry jam in this textured and balanced blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault. A consistent high performer among Rasteau wines, it showcases the complexity of this exciting terroir. Now at its peak, the wine should continue to refine until 2026.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 10/13/2025

The 2019 Evigneaux stands out for its restrained power, which in no way detracts from its freshness and good concentration of intense flavors of perfectly ripe black fruits infused with spices and empyreumatic notes that develop on the palate, which is full-bodied, ample, and silky alongside solid, mellow tannins, ending with a lively, chalky finish. At its peak, this lovely Rasteau paired beautifully with venison kefta and mint sauce. Rating = 4.

Review and opinion by Mr. MATHIEU W. Published on 08/24/2023

Medium deep cherry red color with purple at the core. Nose: sun-dried, red and dark fruit, blackberries, overripe strawberries, plums, figs, spiciness, and absolutely sun-dried garrigue. The palate precisely repeats what the nose promises. Sultry and sun-dried fruit, herbs, garrigue, and some spices, including licorice and cardamom. Furthermore, excellent body, freshness, soft tannins, and a pleasant bitter finish. Typical southern Côtes du Rhône. Score: 16/20
