Le Clos des Fées 2009
90-91+/100
Robert Parker
Notes: Robert Parker 90-91+/100
“Tasted as a blend in the tank, Bizeul’s 2009 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Le Clos des Fées is rich and highly aromatic. Cherry and black fruits, caramel, dark chocolate, and vanilla dominate, with perfect ripeness. The lingering sweetness of its finish is not overshadowed by its alcoholic warmth; it should drink well for a decade.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Hervé Bizeul, a winemaker and maverick writer, has little left to prove, as his estate ranks among the elite of the Roussillon region. That doesn’t stop him from constantly challenging himself, exploring new avenues, innovating, thinking outside the box, and creating new vintages. A prime example is his Pinot Noir, which came out of nowhere and bravely withstands the harsh sun and the Tramontane winds of the Agly Valley. Here, each cuvée displays a personality all its own, sometimes uncompromising, just like its winemaker. From no fewer than seven different terroirs emerges a serious and diverse interpretation of Roussillon. A model of its kind.

It’s not bad, but I don’t understand why this wine and this winery are so highly regarded. I drank it a week before writing this review, and I’ve already forgotten what it tasted and smelled like! Nothing memorable after more than 10 years of aging.
