“Talent doesn’t depend on age, as evidenced by this young, ten-year-old vineyard, which produces a rich, refined Bergeron with notes of almond and an exquisite, exceptionally pure finish. ” (The Bettane & Desseauve Guide to French Wines 2014). A beautiful white with aromas of honey, vine peach, and dried flowers… A delightful bottle!

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2014 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2023 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the wine:
Talent knows no age limit, as evidenced by this ten-year-old vineyard, which produces a rich, refined Bergeron with notes of almond and an exquisite, exceptionally pure finish.
About the estate:
The Magnins are among the most iconic figures in the Savoyard wine region. These two dedicated winemakers, who have been certified organic since 2012, decided to downsize the estate to three hectares starting with the 2018 harvest. While their selection is small, both their white and red wines are truly exquisite.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2012 guide) 15/20 (Very good)
About the wine:
An impressive vintage that makes an immediate impact on the palate with its powerful structure and substantial, dry richness. Notes of honey and vine peach mingle with dried flowers; the full-bodied finish hints at the wine’s 14.5% ABV!

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
The 2009 Verticale is quite opulent, high in alcohol, and full-bodied, with a slightly dry oak profile.
About the estate:
This artisanal estate has played a pivotal role in the contemporary history of the Savoyard vineyards. Although the vineyard area has shrunk, Louis Magnin’s meticulous work—both in the vineyard and in the cellar—enables him to achieve exceptional expression in both reds and whites. A perfectionist, he demonstrates a consistency across his various vintages that few producers in this region can match. Less opulent than in the past, the whites emphasize mineral intensity. Among the Mondeuses—flamboyant yet meant for aging—we continue to prefer (often, though not this year!) the vintages aged in tanks over those aged in barrels.

2009. A beautiful, quite lively Roussanne, full of aromatic intensity and length. The Grand Orgue is more balanced but less opulent—choose based on the dish!

Same goes for the fortified wine—was there a storage issue?

Date: 09/28/13 Aging potential: Peak – 3–4 years Tasting notes: A rich yellow color, a subtle, floral nose, a velvety palate, not too much acidity—superb. Food and wine pairing: Served with raclette—great. Glass: Fruity Red

Honestly, I would have said it was an Hermitage, without a doubt. Just goes to show... Very good wine; at 18 euros, it’s definitely worth it. I could have given it 5 stars, but this kind of very robust, “southern-style” white, with that fairly typical hint of bitterness on the finish, doesn’t exactly send me into ecstasy. But that’s just a matter of taste... No, it’s a very good wine.
