Domaine Tariquet - Bas Armagnac Le Légendaire (70cl)
“Fifteen years of aging have produced this barrel-aged brandy, which is smooth and subtly oaky!”
On the nose, one discovers notes of candied fruit, with hints of stone fruit, and a subtle, nuanced spiciness full of complexity. Aeration confirms the aromatic profile and brings out the candied orange and musk notes. The palate is full-bodied and precise, with well-integrated tannins; the harmony of fruit and oak is captivating, gradually revealing dried fig and prune. The finish is magical, very pure, lingering with a sweet, syrupy quality.

After about half an hour of breathing and served at 15°C, the lively, crisp attack gives way to a palate that is quickly filled with intense warmth, accompanied by the dried fruit aromas already detected on the nose, as well as earthy notes and a hint of caramel. The finish, equally heady, is underpinned by peppery notes and pronounced oak. The traditional suppleness and roundness take a back seat here, giving way to a prominent alcohol presence. At the risk of being wrong, I would say that Le Légendaire belongs more to the category of modern, trendy Bas-Armagnacs. Just like Remy P., I prefer the 12-Year-Old "Pure Folle Blanche," with its broad aromatic palette and finer, delicately rich texture. So I’m going to let Le Légendaire rest for a while, just to see how it might evolve. In the meantime, I’ll continue to savor my old Cuban cigar with a few drops of my famous Guyanese rum, El Dorado 15 Years Old. Rating = 3.3.

Very good, but noticeably less so than the Pure Folle Blanche (which is exceptional), even though the prices are similar
