Notes: Gerbelle & Maurange 16/20, RVF 15.5/20
“The palate is generous, with a rich, opulent texture (7% Sémillon). We love its aromas of spice and horseradish, which linger beautifully. The balance blends fine acidity and richness in this wine, which is perfect as an aperitif or with a meal.” (The Guide to the Best Wines Under €20 2013 – Gerbelle and Maurange)

Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Guillaume and Paul, sons of Francis, in partnership with oenologist Yann Lecoindre, manage the 30 hectares in Saint Julien d’Eymet under the Albert de Conti label (formerly the flagship cuvée of Tour des Gendres). A new winery for vinification and aging is set to be built in Saint Julien. This presents an opportunity to revitalize the village’s wine industry. The trio, led by the dynamic Guillaume, is determined to innovate, both in terms of labels and the style of the wines, by planting Savoyard grape varieties and others, just like their cousins. Stay tuned.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Rancis de Conti was a cooperative member and supplied his wines before entering into a lease agreement with his brother Luc de Conti at Château La Tour des Gendres. In 2021, Guillaume, his son, and his brother Paul, along with Yann Lecoindre, the cellar master at La Tour des Gendres, took over this 30-hectare leasehold to produce their own wines under the Albert de Conti label. The cuvées Conti-ne Périgourdine, Cuvée des Conti, La Vigne d'Albert, Chez Paul, and the naturally sparkling wine produced on this estate’s plots have been taken over by the new entity, which is therefore included in our guide on the same level as the former estate.

Recommended by the sommelier at the Cour d'Alsace in Obernai, this wine is delicious, bursting with freshness and aromas, and has just the right amount of acidity.

When enjoyed chilled with a dish of monkfish à l'armoricaine, it proved to be very smooth, full-bodied, and very fruity. An excellent organic white wine at an affordable price (8 euros)

I was familiar with the red, but this dry white Bergerac is excellent; it’s reminiscent of Graves wines, though admittedly with less minerality, but it has a long finish and a rich body. Very good, and excellent value for the price.
