The "Premières Grives" cuvée is, along with the "Classic," one of the signature wines of the Domaine du Tariquet: a sweet wine made from the Gros Manseng grape, harvested late in the season, at the first frosts of autumn. These fully ripe clusters, still laden with sugar-rich berries, produce a refined, elegant, and distinctive wine with an exotic, indulgent character and a full-bodied, fresh palate. A must-try! (End of the vintage; last bottles available at the estate.)

This is the second time I've ordered this wine—I've never been disappointed—and I've recommended it to friends, who have ordered it themselves. It's just as good as an aperitif as it is with foie gras, and I'm even going to try it with a chocolate dessert. It's sweet without being overly sugary.

The first few sips were pleasant, with hints of pineapple. Once the initial surprise wore off, I found it lacked a bit of finesse and subtlety.

A light, easy-drinking wine (with notes of citrus and tropical fruits) that’s perfect as an aperitif and won’t overwhelm your palate as you continue your meal.
