“Quintessence du Petit Manseng unfolds with a slightly coconutty oakiness, which detracts from the purity of its flavors but in no way diminishes its satisfying balance, built on sufficient acidity to support the sugars.” (Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2011 - RVF). A Masterpiece!

Rated estate (2026 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

This is the largest private estate in Jurançon and the most widely distributed brand in high-end restaurants and luxury wine shops. Henri Ramonteu has perfected the small-scale production of sweet wines with spectacular aromas and a fascinating finish. All share the estate’s signature style: fruitiness of great purity and concentration, balanced by the region’s characteristic liveliness. Top-notch.

Review by Mr. SERGE R. Published on June 21, 2013

I had read too much about this wine before tasting it; since some people compared it to great Sauternes wines or even Yquem, I was a little disappointed because it lacks both the complexity and the finish of those wines. It’s still a good wine, but perhaps a bit overrated.
