About the estate:
Alain Brumont has forged his own distinctive style, sending wines from Madiran across the globe under the Château Montus label, which he acquired in 1980. Often bucking conventional wisdom, Brumont’s vintages showcase his great freedom in interpreting terroirs with yellow and red clay subsoils, varying in composition from 20% to 40%. Tannat is featured in the château’s three cuvées—Prestige, XL, Montus, and La Tyre—and undoubtedly delivers the most spectacular profile of this challenging Pyrenean grape.

Strictly speaking, it probably doesn't deserve a 4/5, but for the price, it's not bad! We tasted it with friends as an aperitif, and everyone loved it. Lovely white fruit notes, nice liveliness, not too dry—I think it’s perfect for this time of day. It should pair well with cheeses that aren’t too mature...
