Founded in 1991 by Hans Oliver Spanier, the winery BattenfeldSpanier is located in the Hesse-Rhein region. Since its inception, the estate BattenfeldSpanier has been farmed using organic and biodynamic methods since 2005. Emphasis is placed on the soil’s microbial life and on capturing the terroir in the glass. The estate BattenfeldSpanier is part of the Renaissance des Appellations group, led by Nicolas Joly.
The BattenfeldSpanier vineyard is located on the hillsides along the Rhine, spanning several vineyards: Frauenberg, Zellerweg am Schwarzen Herrgott, and Kirchenstück. The estate covers 30 hectares.
