Bodega Monteviejo
Bodega Monteviejo is the fruit of an adventure launched in 1998 when oenologist Michel Rolland and Jean-Michel Arcaute decided to embark on an ambitious winegrowing project. Argentina offered both the space and the opportunity to plant without reserve, with a promising end result: a great wine on a good terroir at an attractive price... They have enough arguments to bring together seven investors, all winegrowers(Catherine Péré-Vergé owner of Château Montviel in Pomerol, but also Laurent Dassault owner in Saint-Emilion, as well as Bertrand Otto representing La Compagnie Vinicole E. Rotschild, and Bertrand Cuvelier) around a fine viticulture project in the province of Mendoza. Bodega Monteviejo will be created at Vistaflores, an estate of 847 hectares of vines.

Divided into seven bodegas, the complex has been christened Le Clos de los Siete. The aim: to give optimum expression to this beautiful terroir worthy of the world's greatest red wine terroirs. To achieve this, Michel Rolland has left nothing to chance. The vineyard is all vertical trellising, with a density of 5,500 vines per hectare, the historic density of the old Malbecs that have made this variety's reputation. The wine from Bodega Monteviejo, owned by the Péré-Vergé family, is made exclusively from this Malbec. Harvesting is manual, with bunch sorting, de-stemming and grain sorting. After vinification, Bodega Monteviejo 's wines are aged in French oak barrels for 16 months, giving an astonishingly high quality.
