Monteviejo Winery
Bodega Monteviejo is the result of a venture launched in 1998 when winemaker Michel Rolland and Jean-Michel Arcaute decided to embark on an ambitious wine-growing project. Argentina offers both the space and the opportunity to plant freely, with the promise of a promising outcome: a great wine from a good terroir at attractive prices... They had enough convincing arguments to bring together seven investors, all winemakers (Catherine Péré-Vergé, owner of Château Montviel in Pomerol; Laurent Dassault, owner in Saint-Émilion; Bertrand Otto, representative of La Compagnie Vinicole E. Rothschild; and Bertrand Cuvelier) around a promising viticultural project in the province of Mendoza. Bodega Monteviejo will be established in Vistaflores, an estate comprising 847 hectares of vineyards.

Divided into seven bodegas, the entire estate has been named Le Clos de los Siete. The goal: to bring out the full potential of this exceptional terroir, worthy of the world’s greatest red wine terroirs. To achieve this, Michel Rolland left nothing to chance. The vineyard is planted entirely with vertical trellising at a density of 5,500 vines per hectare—the traditional density of the old Malbec vines that established this variety’s reputation. The wine from Bodega Monteviejo , owned by the Péré-Vergé family, is made exclusively from this Malbec. The grapes are harvested by hand, with cluster sorting, destemming, and berry sorting. After vinification, the wines from Bodega Monteviejo are aged in French oak barrels for 16 months, resulting in a wine of astonishing quality.
