La Violeta 2008 is the second vintage of this cuvée, aged like La Violette in Pomerol, and limited to 15.5% alcohol. It displays an opulent and heady bouquet that reminds me of its Pomerol counterpart in its youth. It offers a wide range of notes of ripe red cherry, crème de cassis, vanilla, and blueberry jam, all enveloped in creamy oak. The palate is full-bodied with velvety tannins and low acidity. Everything here is beautifully blended with well-integrated new oak. It is sumptuous and appeals to hedonists. Drink now and until 2016 and beyond." Wine rated (2014 guide) 94/100
About wine:
Much like the previous vintage of La Violeta, this cuvée is a magnificent Malbec, with complexity, intensity, and power to spare. The bouquet exudes aromas of marzipan, cola, fine leather, tea, and richly aromatic berries. All of this impeccably structures the palate with intense notes of dried meat, mocha, black fruits, and spices. The finish is massive and loaded with licorice and mocha.
