d'Arenberg

d'Arenberg is one of the most important estates in McLaren Vale. Founded in 1912 by Joseph Osborn, the estate was passed down from generation to generation until d'Arry (Joseph’s grandson) arrived in 1959 at the age of 16. He worked alongside his father until the latter’s death in 1957. In 1959, d’Arry Osborn decided to launch his own line of wines: d’Arenberg, in honor of his mother, Helena d’Arenberg. He added a red stripe to his labels to evoke his memories of school (the red-and-white tie from his school uniform). Chester Osborn, d'Arry’s son, joined the company in 1984 as cellar master.
