“Bright straw yellow. Lively, mineral-driven aromas of citrus, pear nectar, white peach, and iodine, with subtle notes of fennel and jasmine. The palate is subtly velvety and concentrated, offering intense flavors of orchard fruits and citrus, along with deeper nuances of marzipan and buttery toast. The finish is very long and smoky, with a spicy note of ginger and growing floral notes.” (Vinous 2022). Screw cap

About the wine:
The restrained use of oak highlights the Sexton vineyard’s inherent potential for complexity. 2020 was a vintage with particularly low yields, producing small clusters of intense yet fresh fruit. Giant Steps made the most of it, as evidenced by this wine with aromas of lemon, apple, and melon, supported by a solid mineral backbone, firm acidity, and honeyed richness. Good aging potential.

About the wine:
This single-vineyard beauty, a restrained and crisp Chardonnay vintage from the Yarra Valley, displays reductive notes of flint and nuts. These are paired with more delicate aromas of stone fruit, waxy lemon, white spices, orchard blossoms, and wet stones. Toasted oak is also present but well-integrated. The palate is beautifully balanced, with crisp, lemony acidity and well-integrated oak. Precise yet full of personality, this wine is an excellent example of modern Australian Chardonnay, well-suited for immediate enjoyment. Drink now through 2032.
