Note: Guide Hachette 2** Stars (Remarkable Wine)
Clochemerle, or Vaux en Beaujolais, is a famous village perched high in the heart of the Beaujolais vineyards, which has given its name to a wine with typical aromas of ripe red fruits (raspberry, wild strawberry, redcurrant) mixed with blackcurrant and blueberry. Christophe Coquard, the exclusive distributor of the Clochemerle brand, has opted for a screw cap closure, making it easier to open, preserving the freshness of the fruit and the conviviality of a moment of pleasure. An excellent 2005 to be enjoyed now!

Rated estate (2014 guide) Selected (An estate or producer that impressed us with one or more of its wines, but about which we cannot give an overall opinion on the style of the entire range)

About the estate:

Christophe Coquard founded his own wine merchant business in 2005. He offers a range of wines covering every Beaujolais appellation, and more recently those from the neighboring Mâconnais region. The labels are beautifully decorated, and the prices remain reasonable. The house did not present its 2008 wines as we had requested, but instead offered the more highly regarded 2009 vintage. In this vintage, several crus disappointed us, but the regional appellations were bursting with fruit."
