Domaine de L'Etournet - Saint Amour 2017
3*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
“Located halfway up the slope of the Saint-Amour vineyard, on sandstone-pebble soil, the estate clearly has everything it needs to produce a top-tier Beaujolais wine. Whole-cluster vinification remarkably highlights the Gamay grape’s ability to offer beautiful aromatic intensity (ripe red fruits, floral and spicy notes). On the palate, it combines concentration, richness, and elegance. A well-rounded and particularly seductive wine.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)

I agree with 1J1V’s description. Good nose, with notes of cherry and blackberry on the palate, a silky texture, and good length. I’m charmed by its finesse, but it still needs a little more time to show its best side. Because of this, I can somewhat understand the disappointment of those who don’t appreciate this wine. Personally, I’m optimistic about its future in the coming years. Already, in March 2020, its finesse is as surprising as its personality. It outshines two other comparable Saint Amour wines during a meal. Worth buying again!

I didn't know they made wine in Belgium. Everything about this wine is flat—except the price! Even a Beaujolais Nouveau would be better. Don't hesitate to skip this one!

With its fruity character, this Beaujolais is perfect for any occasion. A lovely little bottle.

I bought this to present Saint Amour to my wine club, and I'm very disappointed with this wine, which is worth 3 stars at most—but I've lowered my rating to reflect how disappointed I am. Finishing the bottle was no pleasure.

Good start, but a bit short on the palate—it needs time to develop
