3*Coup de Coeur

Hachette

"Located halfway up the slope of the Saint-Amour vineyard on sandstone gravel soil, the estate clearly has everything it takes to produce a top-tier Beaujolais wine. Whole-cluster vinification remarkably highlights the Gamay’s ability to offer beautiful aromatic intensity (ripe red fruits, floral and spicy notes). On the palate, it combines concentration, richness, and elegance. A complete and particularly seductive wine.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)

About the wine:

Located halfway up the slope of the Saint-Amour vineyard, on sandstone gravel soil, the estate clearly possesses all the qualities needed to produce a top-tier Beaujolais wine. Review by Mr. DIDIER P. Published on March 21, 2020

I agree with 1J1V’s description. Good nose, flavors of cherry and blackberry on the palate, a silky texture, and good length. I’m charmed by its finesse, but it still needs a little time to reach its full potential. That said, I can understand why some people might be disappointed by this wine. Personally, I’m optimistic about its future in the coming years. Already, in March 2020, its finesse is as surprising as its personality. It stands out during a meal compared to two other comparable Saint Amours. Worth buying again!

I didn't know they made wine in Belgium. Everything about this wine is flat—except the price! Even a Beaujolais Nouveau would be better. Don't hesitate to skip this one!

I bought this to introduce Saint Amour to my wine club, but I’m very disappointed with this wine, which is worth 3 stars at most—though I’d give it even fewer given how disappointed I am. Finishing the bottle was no pleasure.
