Gault & Millau

“A majestic 2010, with a velvety, cherry-red hue. The bouquet, still developing but already complex, evokes the forest floor, ripe red and black fruits, violets, and roasted coffee. The palate offers a perfect balance between power and finesse, between perfectly ripe grapes, high-quality oak, and tannins that are both silky and firm, all underscored by a stimulating freshness. A Pomerol that can be enjoyed both in its youth (three years) and a decade from now: the hallmark of the greats. " (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2014)

A fine revival for this wine, which is well-balanced in its tannins and reflects the vintage, with just the right amount of body.

About the estate:

Owned by Stephen Adams, an American businessman and epicurean, L’Enclos has benefited from investments that have allowed the wine to re-enter our tastings. Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine rated (2014 guide) 3*Top Pick (Exceptional wine)

Rated estate Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the wine:

Denise and Stephen Adams, an American couple who already own wineries in California, have been investing in the Libourne region for several years: Fonplégade, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, in 2004, and L'Enclos in Pomerol in 2007. The latter spans 9 hectares of vineyards divided into thirty-eight plots on the western slope of the plateau. Planted on sandy-gravel soils, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a touch of Malbec have produced a majestic 2010 vintage, with a velvety, cherry-red hue. The bouquet, emerging yet already complex, evokes the forest floor, ripe red and black fruits, violets, and roasted coffee.

Tasted in July 2020 as part of a cheese platter. Aromas of ripe fruit with a hint of toast. Smooth, delicate, and fairly long on the palate. Magnificent
