Château La Création
Located near Château de Sales and Clos René, Château La Création (formerly Château Tour Robert) has been owned by the de Gaye family since 2012, with Yseult de Gaye-Nony at the helm. She also owns the estates of Château Grand Corbin Manuel, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, and Château Saint Barbe, a Bordeaux Supérieur. This rather intimate vineyard spans a single contiguous plot of 5.5 hectares and wraps around the farm buildings and the manor house.
Immediately after the acquisition of Château La Création, improvements were made, such as modifying the vineyard layout, to fully unlock the potential of the soil and subsoil. The majority of the Merlot, as well as the Cabernet Sauvignon, will be partially uprooted to make way for Cabernet Franc. These well-drained soils, drier than clay soils, are highly drought-resistant and perfectly suited to Cabernet Franc, which retains all its freshness. The proportion of this grape variety has thus continued to grow: from 20% in 2012, it now accounts for 61% of the vineyard’s planting, a proportion rarely seen in Pomerol.
