“An enticing nose, with blackcurrant scented with violets— fruity and floral. Excellent core, juicy and vibrant. It has a pleasant character, quite brilliant in the glass yet always with depth, highlighting black fruits and licorice spices. I love the structure and overall balance. The blue fruits, refreshing elements, andcrisp acidity keep it quite lively, with just a touch of austerity emerging toward the finish.” (Decanter 2022)

Wine rated (2020 guide) 92/100

Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

The delicate tannins, enveloped by well-structured body, unfold within a concentrated palate, culminating in a fresh finish that thoroughly won us over during our second tasting of this vintage.

About the estate:

The Janoueix family, one of the great wine-making families of the Right Bank, has always had a keen sense for the great wines of Pomerol. First and foremost, we must pay tribute to Marie-Antoinette Janoueix: in 1999, she had the excellent intuition to set aside four hectares of gravelly soil located at the heart of the clay plateau that had previously been part of Château-la-Croix. These high-quality plots are neighbors to prestigious estates such as Le Pin, Vieux Château Certan, and Petit Village. Her daughter, Marie-Jo Chabut, has skillfully taken over the estate and entrusted the technical management to her nephew, the talented Jean-Philippe Janoueix, who brings greater precision to the mid-palate and finish. We appreciate the dense and voluptuous attack that lingers with smoothness and energy; the truffle-like finish lends greater nobility to the whole.

About the wine:

From the very first sip, La Croix St Georges presents itself as an inviting and alluring wine. The bouquet alternates between fruity, spicy, and woody notes. Its smoothness on the palate only serves to highlight the charm of Pomerol, while the tannins provide depth and structure.
