"Dense garnet red with violet highlights. Complex, multifaceted bouquet with mineral, fruity, and floral notes. Hints of black berries and spices. Delicious, slightly creamy attack. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and fresh with well-integrated tannins. The tannins are fine-grained and offer breadth. Beautiful aromatic expression right through to the finish. A wine that perfectly combines charm and character." (Yves Beck 2019)

Bettane & Desseauve

3-star rating (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

The Janoueix family, one of the great wine families of the right bank, has always had an eye for the great wines of Pomerol. First and foremost, we must celebrate Marie-Antoinette Janoueix: in 1999, she had the excellent intuition to isolate four hectares of gravel located in the heart of the clay plateau that was part of Château-la-Croix. These high-quality plots are neighbors to the prestigious Le Pin, Vieux Château Certan, and Petit Village. Her daughter Marie-Jo Chabut has skillfully taken over the property and entrusted technical responsibility to her nephew, the talented Jean-Philippe Janoueix, who brings greater precision to the mid-palate and finish. We appreciate the dense and voluptuous attack that lingers with smoothness and energy, while the truffle-filled finish adds nobility to the whole.

Wine rated (2018 guide) 88-91/100

About wine:

Château La Croix St-Georges 2017 is deep, supple, and creamy, with tons of textural richness. Flavors of dark red plum, mocha, spice, and new leather are all enhanced with an extra touch of voluptuousness in 2017. Soft floral notes add brightness on the finish. It's a particularly succulent style that works well.

The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve

Wine rated (2018 guide) 90/100

About wine:

Floral vanilla and ripe cherries arrive immediately, followed by plums and licorice with a round texture on the mid-palate. The finish is juicy, with soft, mellow tannins. Give it 7 to 8 years for the oak to integrate and it will be even better. The wine was produced from 95.5% Merlot and 4.5% Cabernet Franc, reaching 13.5% alcohol.
