Produced since 1997 from the Château’s vineyards, Fugue is the quintessential expression of Pomerol’s charm. Drawing inspiration from the world of music, it is a variation on the main theme. Thus, Fugue harmonizes with the character of its elder sibling while offering an engaging and alluring expression. A round, silky wine, ready to drink. A racy and fresh 2016 vintage.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2019 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
The Delon family’s acquisition of the estate in 1997 allowed Nénin to regain its standing, which it has easily surpassed in recent vintages. While 2015 promises to be magnificent, the 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, and 2010 vintages are full of character. The acquisition, at the end of the 20th century, of part of Certan-Giraud allowed the estate to rely on one of Pomerol’s finest terroirs. Far less showy than most of its peers, it is built for aging and constantly evolving. The lingering tannins unfold beautifully, with great energy and a superb floral and spicy finish.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2018 guide) 90/100 (Excellent wine)
Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
A blend of 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Fugue de Nenin, with its deep purple-garnet color, reveals notes of jammy plums, cooked black berries, and black cherries, complemented by hints of cigar boxes and pencil lead. Medium- to full-bodied, velvety, and bursting with layers of black fruit and minty notes, this wine has a long finish.

Rated estate (2019 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
The Delon family, owners of the renowned Château Léoville Las Cases in Saint-Julien and Château Potensac in the Médoc, acquired this large estate in 1997 and spared no effort to restore it to its former glory. They undertook major renovations, reaching a new milestone in 1999 with the expansion of the vineyard through the purchase of half of the former Château Certan Giraud (the other half belonging to the Jean-Pierre Moueix estate, under the name Hosanna). The wines produced here display a classic character; they often appear somewhat austere and strict in their youth, but they age remarkably well. The quality of the wines continues to improve thanks to a rigorous selection process (generally only 30 to 40% of the production makes it into the grand vin). The most recent vintages are all highly recommended, more approachable in their youth without losing any of their depth or class. With prices remaining reasonable, these are excellent buys for lovers of pure, distinguished wines.

Powerful yet supple on the palate. A fine Pomerol that truly reflects its terroir, with a hint of slightly bitter dark chocolate on the finish. But it’s definitely still far too young! I wanted to see how long it could age. Verdict: Best enjoyed in 2026!
