"The Favorite chosen by a vote for this Pomerol. The very intense color displays some violet hues. The nose, complex and exceptionally refined, reveals superb notes of blackberry, sweet spices, coffee, and subtle oak. On the palate, the attack is smooth with aromas of blackberry, fresh raspberry, and black pepper, followed by a palate structured by racy tannins, whose richness is balanced by judiciously measured acidity. Undoubtedly one of the great wines of the vintage.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020)

About the wine:
The Favorite chosen by popular vote for this Pomerol. The deeply intense color displays hints of purple. Undoubtedly one of the great wines of the vintage.
About the estate:
Part of the Axa Millésimes portfolio since 1989, this renowned vineyard takes its name from the old buildings that once formed a small hamlet. Ideally situated on the highest part of the Pomerol plateau, its vineyard comprises a single contiguous 10.5-hectare plot on deep gravel soils coated with clay.

Wine rated (2018 guide) 92/100 (Excellent wine)
Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
With a fairly deep purple color, this 2016 Petit-Village has a nose that is still closed, from which subtle earthy notes, along with hints of plum, stewed cherry, chocolate, tobacco, and a touch of rose, begin to emerge. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, straightforward, powdery, and lively, with flavors of fresh earth on the finish. It needs time, but patience will be rewarded!

Wine rated (2021 guide) 92/100
Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Owned by the Axa Group, Petit-Village—which has seen a succession of different management teams—has not always lived up to the potential of its superbly situated terroir. Recent vintages, however, show a positive trend, with wines that are more elegant, more refined, and less “Medoc-style” in character. We believe, however, that the estate can still aim higher under the leadership of Diana Berrouet-Garcia, who took over as technical director in 2015.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2019 guide) 96/100
About the wine:
Attractive aromas of slate and stone, with a sense of depth and a style strongly rooted in the terroir. Abundant ripe black fruit with a smooth, velvety, and very deep palate. A long, classic, well-balanced, and powerful Pomerol. Best enjoyed starting in 2023.
