Rigaud Castle
Château Rigaud is one of the most renowned wines in the Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion appellation, near Bordeaux. A family estate since 1850, Château Rigaud was taken over in 2004 by Pierre Taïx, descendant of a family of winegrowers who, in addition to this estate, also cultivate Château Fongaban.

The Château Rigaud vineyard covers 7 hectares, with vines growing on mainly clay-limestone soil. In 1997, Pierre Taïx created a wine from a selection of plots in the Château Rigaud vineyard: La Mauriane. This wine is blended from two parcels: one located on a south-west facing hillside, which traditionally produces very ripe grapes and extremely rich wines, and the other located on a plateau where Merlot is planted, producing full-bodied wines, and a few Cabernet Franc vines, which undoubtedly bring superior aromatic complexity. The entire estate stands out for the consistency that Pierre Taïx has managed to impose on the quality of its wines. Château Rigaud has won the Prix d'Excellence, the highest award at the Paris International Agricultural Show, for two consecutive years. This generous wine has an exceptional pedigree, with character and structure, dominated by Merlot (80%). This structured wine, with fine and delicate aromas obtained after a long 16-month aging in barrels, is a sure bet in the Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion appellation.
