Château Rigaud
Château Rigaud is one of the most renowned wines of the Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion appellation, near Bordeaux. A family-owned estate since 1850, Château Rigaud was taken over in 2004 by Pierre Taïx, a descendant of a family of winemakers who, in addition to this estate, also cultivate Château Fongaban.

The Château Rigaud vineyard spans 7 hectares, with vines growing on soil that is primarily clay-limestone. In 1997, Pierre Taïx created a wine from a plot-selection of the Château Rigaud vineyard: La Mauriane. This wine is a blend from two plots: one situated on a southwest-facing hillside that traditionally yields very ripe grapes and extremely full-bodied wines, while the other plot is located on a plateau planted with Merlot—which produces robust wines—and a few Cabernet Franc vines that undeniably contribute superior aromatic complexity. The entire estate stands out for the consistency that Pierre Taïx has successfully established in the quality of its wines. Château Rigaud has won the Prix d’Excellence—the highest honor at the Paris General Agricultural Competition—for two consecutive years. This generous wine, with character and substance and a predominance of Merlot (80%), boasts an exceptional pedigree. This well-structured wine, with its refined and delicate aromas developed after a long 16-month aging in barrels, is a sure bet within the Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion appellation.
