Sine Qua Non
Elaine and Manfred Krankl moved from Austria to the United States in the 1980s. They took on a series of odd jobs while also producing their own garage wine. In 1994, Robert Parker tasted their first vintage and awarded it a score of 95/100; from the very beginning, Sine Qua Non became famous.
Sine Qua Non produces Rhône-style wines, with a vineyard planted primarily with Syrah and Grenache, but also featuring Petit Manseng, Touriga Nacional, and Graciano—varieties they believe also embody the Rhône style.
Having received a 100/100 Parker score multiple times, Sine Qua Non is a mecca for wine.
