"The result of a collaboration between Jeff Cohn and Yves Cuilleron, the 2018 Syrah Domaine des Chirats is another dense, rich, and very intense Syrah in the range, displaying incredible complexity with bright blueberry and cherry flavors, as well as notes of violet, white pepper, sandalwood, and aromas and flavors similar to those of a bouquet garni. This full-bodied, tannic and powerful wine develops smoky bacon fat aromas, similar to those of Côte Rôtie, as well as a structure that becomes more pronounced as it rests in the glass. Do your best to hide the bottles for 3 to 4 years, and it should have an overall longevity of two decades. (Jeb Dunnuck 2021)

About wine:
The Syrah Domaine des Chirats 2018 is the result of a collaboration between Jeff Cohn and Yves Cuilleron. It comes from 25-year-old vines in the Rockpile vineyard and was made with 30% whole bunches and aged for 18 months in 30% new French oak. Deep ruby in color, it takes time to open up, evolving from iron and charcuterie to redcurrant and violet, nuancing over time in the glass. The palate is mineral and fresher than expected, with subtle fruit and a touch of rusticity in the texture that gives it a cooler climate feel than is typical for this site. It should develop beautifully over the next 3 to 5 years in the bottle. 332 cases were produced. 2022-2037
