About the wine:
The 2018 Domaine des Chirats Syrah is the result of a collaboration between Jeff Cohn and Yves Cuilleron. It comes from 25-year-old vines in the Rockpile vineyard and was made using 30% whole clusters and aged for 18 months in 30% new French oak. Deep ruby in color, it takes time to open up, evolving from notes of iron and cured meats to red currant and violet, with the flavors becoming more nuanced as it sits in the glass. On the palate, it is mineral and fresher than expected, with subtle fruit and a touch of rusticity in the texture that gives it a sensation of a cooler climate than is typical for this site. It should develop beautifully over the next 3 to 5 years in the bottle. 332 cases were produced. 2022–2037
