“Discover a Rhône Syrah straight from California—a sublime collaboration between Yves Cuilleron and Jeff Cohn!”

"The result of a collaboration between Jeff Cohn and Yves Cuilleron, the 2018 Domaine des Chirats Syrah is another dense, rich, and highly intense Syrah in the lineup, displaying incredible complexity in its vibrant blueberries and cherries, along with notes of violet, white pepper, sandalwood, and aromas and flavors reminiscent of a bouquet garni. This full-bodied, tannic, and powerful wine develops smoky bacon fat aromas, similar to those of Côte Rôtie, as well as a structure that becomes increasingly pronounced as it rests in the glass. Do your best to hide the bottles for 3 to 4 years, and it should have an overall longevity of two decades. " (Jeb Dunnuck 2021)

About the wine:

The 2018 Domaine des Chirats Syrah is the result of a collaboration between Jeff Cohn and Yves Cuilleron. It comes from 25-year-old vines in the Rockpile vineyard and was made using 30% whole clusters, then aged for 18 months in 30% new French oak. Deep ruby in color, it takes time to open up, evolving from iron and cured meats to red currant and violet, becoming more nuanced as it sits in the glass. The palate is mineral and fresher than expected, with subtle fruit and a touch of rusticity in the texture that gives it a cooler climate feel than is typical of this site. It should develop beautifully over the next 3 to 5 years in the bottle. 332 cases were produced. 2022–2037
