Note: Robert Parker 96/100
"The Celler Cal Pla Mas d'en Compte 2009 is a blend of 50% Grenache (+100 years old), 40% Carignan, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. An incredible bargain, offering a purple-ink color and flavors of raspberry jam, sweet blueberry, blackcurrant, crushed stone, graphite, and spring flowers. Amazing richness and intensity with a magnificent palate and a full-bodied finish, which characterize this brilliant, if not prodigious, Priorato." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Surprising in its richness and elegance. It has become one of my favorites.

Compared to Parker's glowing reviews, I am rather disappointed by this Priorato. Admittedly, the wine is very pleasant on the nose, with aromas of jammy fruit and notes of cinnamon and vanilla. However, on the palate, the sweetness of the wine overpowers everything else, so much so that it almost feels like drinking a Banylus or a Port. Ultimately, the wine is so dense and sweet that it becomes difficult to digest. Parker's assessment is certainly unique and full of bias...

It feels like a luxury vacation. What genius was able to find something other than gas in the local shale? The excellence of Collioure, but on the Spanish side of the border. It's worth the finest food, with the best friends.

A deep, dense, robust wine. Very Spanish, then... The value for money is undeniable. After that, it's a matter of style, and I'm not surprised that Parker gave it 96 points. In my opinion, that's too high, but everyone has their own tastes. It remains a remarkable wine nonetheless.

Wonderful! Round; fruity, powerful, elegant, distinguished. Notes of very ripe fruit, lovely length—this wine is pure joy!
