Portal del Priorat Winery
The Bodega Portal del Priorat, partially buried beneath the vineyards, is a true artisanal winemaking laboratory, housing oak barrels of old grape varieties and concrete “eggs” for small-scale fermentations. Since 2007, the renowned international winemaker Stephen Pannell has joined the team at Bodega Portal del Priorat, bringing his experience and creative vision.

Bodega Portal del Priorat, located—as its name suggests—in the Priorat appellation, produces two wines from the Clos del Portal estate, which benefits from a unique microclimate across 40 hectares (15 of which are planted) that stretch from the Siurana River to the foothills of Montsant. The soils are predominantly licorelle slate (schist) with varied exposures. The grape varieties, exclusively red, are dominated by native varieties: Grenache and Carignan, but varieties not native to the region, such as Syrah, Cabernets, and others, are also present.

The two DO Priorat wines from Bodega Portal del Priorat, which has just joined the exclusive circle of giants, are absolutely immense.
