Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo
Abruzzo is a wine-producing region located in central Italy, at the same latitude as Rome, but along the Adriatic coast and south of the Marche region. Among the wines of Abruzzo, certain appellations stand out that are linked to grape varieties characteristic of Italy. Among these appellations is Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, which has been classified as a DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) since 1972.
Trebbiano d'Abruzzo is exclusively a white wine produced in the provinces of Chieti, L'Aquila, Pescara, and Teramo. The local Trebbiano grape variety, also known as Bombino Bianco, may be blended with other secondary grape varieties. Made from the indigenous Trebbiano, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo white wines exhibit remarkable complexity and excellent aging potential.
It is no coincidence that Domaine Valentini’s Trebbiano d’Abruzzo was named Italy’s best wine in 2007. Without necessarily aspiring to such a title, the wine from Villa Medoro offers a perfect example of the qualities of Trebbiano d’Abruzzo.
