Rating in the Hachette Guide: 3*** (Exceptional Wine) + Editor’s Choice
“Efforts rewarded with this Favorite celebrates a superb 2011 vintage with an intense, almost black color. The nose releases generous aromas of very ripe, almost candied black fruits, and promises a round, full-bodied, and long finish, supported by silky, delicate tannins. A wine that perfectly embodies its appellation, to be opened in a year or two and paired with game or red meat in sauce.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2014)

About the wine:

Gilles Sorin has been managing this 18.5-hectare family vineyard since 1995. Committed to producing wines that faithfully reflect the grape’s natural flavor without any frills, he takes special care of the vines from the vineyard to the cellar: grass cover, aeration of the bunches, hand-harvesting, no added yeast or sugar… These efforts are rewarded by this Favorite celebrates a superb 2011 vintage with an intense, almost black color. The nose releases generous aromas of very ripe, almost candied black fruits, and promises a round, full-bodied, and long finish, supported by silky, delicate tannins. A wine that is perfectly in tune with its appellation, to be opened in a year or two and paired with game or red meat in sauce.

A very full-bodied wine with plenty of depth, yet not at all heavy (no oak). Well-ripened. Quite surprising for a Loire wine—excellent value for money

Review by Mr. THIBAULT L. Published on October 1, 2017

The bottles we drank when they were young were very high in alcohol and really odd (frankly disappointing). The ones we drank in 2016 and 2017 were sublime. Dark, stewed fruit and pepper. Excellent value for money, but you had to be patient and lucky enough to open it at the right time.

I'm very disappointed with this Anjou Village. It has a certain harshness to it and is too tannic; I'm not sure it will improve if left to age in the cellar for a while. This is the first time a wine I've bought from you has disappointed me this much. It just goes to show that you shouldn't take the reviews in guides like Hachette and others as gospel.

Quite a bit of tannin, a very concentrated palate, unpleasant bitterness, and a strong alcoholic presence.

A pleasant surprise for this unconventional Anjou. Full-bodied, with a long finish and a touch of subtlety.

The first bottle was too tannic and had a strong earthy taste. Wait at least six months for a better experience.
