Muscadet
The Muscadet AOP covers a vast area around Nantes and was established in 1937. The appellation is unique in that it takes its name from the grape variety rather than from a geographical or historical region. The name is said to date back to the Middle Ages and is reminiscent of Muscat wines from Cyprus.

Muscadet thrives in an oceanic climate characterized by small annual temperature variations and generous summer sunshine. The vineyards are exposed to sea breezes, which promote early budbreak. The terroirs ofthe Muscadet AOP offer great diversity, featuring igneous and metamorphic rocks such as granite, gneiss, mica schist, and gabbro, as well as clay soils and sandy soils rich in pebbles.

The star grape variety ofthe Muscadet AOP is Melon de Bourgogne; its early ripening and cold resistance make it an ideal choice for the region.
