About the estate:
Saint-Julien-de-Concelles overlooks the Loire Valley and the market gardens where, among other crops, lily of the valley and Nantes lamb’s lettuce are grown. The Pétard family has been cultivating vines there since the 19th century on hillsides with mica schist soils. Vincent Pétard joined his parents in 2004. Ten years later, after they retired, he partnered with his childhood friend Christophe Bazile. Together, they cultivate 25 hectares, a third of which is in the process of converting to organic farming.

Everything you'd expect from a light Muscadet. Fresh, dry, slightly fruity, and not too acidic. Great value for the price.

The 2023 vintage holds some pleasant surprises, such as this Alouette, which, in addition to its modest price, boasts many other merits. Light as a little bird, with a long, slender palate, it captivates with the refreshing liveliness of white fruits and a few floral notes. The overall profile is simple yet harmonious, with no harsh acidity or bitterness; on the contrary, it is full of finesse and roundness, with a superb finish enhanced by a very pleasant hint of lemon. An immediate delight, L’Alouette is ready to be served ideally with pike in Nantes-style white butter sauce, or, failing that, with pan-fried eels with parsley. Rating: 4.

This is a lovely, crisp wine that’s very approachable, both in terms of taste and price. It retains an old-school alcohol content, which doesn’t detract from its appeal. Perfect with tuna rillettes

A simple, dry white wine that pairs well with a plate of oysters. Excellent value for the price.

This Muscadet has a sunny, golden hue. The nose is complex, with floral notes. On the palate, it is very rich and full-bodied. I would pair it with river fish in a white butter sauce rather than a seafood platter.
