The AOC Saumur Brut, which spans 1,390 hectares, produces a sparkling wine with fine bubbles made from Chenin, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pineau d'Aunis, either as single-varietal wines or blends. These grape varieties grow on calcareous soils composed of tuffeau and schist (Anjou Noir).
The temperate oceanic climate and the more continental influences on the plots furthest from the Loire River give the Saumur Brut aromas of white fruits, lemon balm, hazelnut, and toasted almonds.
Traditional winemaking of the Saumur Brut And the minimum of 9 months of aging on the lees results in a sparkling wine that’s best enjoyed young and pairs perfectly with shellfish and desserts.
