Saumur Brut
The AOC Saumur Brut, which spans 1,390 hectares, produces a fine-bubbled sparkling wine made from Chenin, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pineau d'Aunis, either as single-varietal wines or blends. These grape varieties grow on limestone soils composed of tuffeau and schist (Anjou Noir).
The temperate oceanic climate and the more continental influences on the plots furthest from the Loire give the Saumur Brut aromas of white fruit, lemon balm, hazelnut, and toasted almonds.
Traditional winemaking of the Saumur Brut and the minimum 9 months of aging on the lees result in a sparkling wine that is best enjoyed young and pairs perfectly with shellfish and desserts.
