Denis Dubourdieu recognized the untapped potential of Maltese terroirs. In the 1980s, he partnered with Mark Miceli-Farrugia to create Meridiana Estate. Upon Denis Dubourdieu's death, a prominent Italian family took over Meridiana Estate: the Antinoris, already owners of the prestigious Sassicaia and Orneillaia estates.
Meridiana Estate enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate. The 17 hectares of vines, planted on limestone soils and swept by sea winds, produce pure, taut wines with a salty finish.
