“Pale fox red—that familiar rusty hue that signals a fawn-colored wine. A deep, rich, and fully ripe nose, with aromas of mahogany, toasted nuts, dark chocolate, aged leather, and a hint of black pepper. A lovely freshness that superbly balances the sweetness, with tannins that give the impression of a dry wine, even though it is, of course, not. This wine is just begging for a hard cheese! A long, velvety finish with notes of hazelnut. Some people simply won’t like the mature style (but then, why buy a 40-year-old tawny if that’s not the case?), but this is a fine example of it.” (Jancis Robinson 2020)

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2017 guide) 94/100 (Outstanding wine)
Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
The 40-year-old NV Tawny Port, bottled in 2015, is a blend of grape varieties with 135 grams of residual sugar per liter. Very fresh, very elegant, and relatively young for a 40-year-old, it is only moderately complex for its age—a bit light on molasses notes, so to speak. However, its youth and nutty nuances are quite magnificent in their own right. Lively and delicious, it offers an alluring touch of sweetness. 2016–2065

Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
Made from a blend of old vines, this port is a classic of its kind. It has an old-gold color and a rich intensity resulting from nearly 40 years of barrel aging. The spicy aromas and acidity are balanced by the wine’s heady bouquet. Ready to drink now.
