Château La Nerthe

Château La Nerthe is a highly renowned estate that has belonged to the Richard family since 1985 and is managed by Alain Dugas. The La Nerthe vineyard was established in the 12th century, at a time when the popes were French. Its origins coincide with the appearance of vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the pontiffs had chosen to establish their summer residence.

Located in the heart of the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, the Château La Nerthe vineyard enjoys a Mediterranean-type microclimate with over 200 days of sunshine per year. This warmth promotes early ripening of the grapes and allows for a very concentrated harvest period. The La Nerthe vines thrive on a wide variety of terraces and hillsides perched above the Rhône. The soils are clayey or sandy-clayey in texture and covered with a layer of stones—the famous rounded pebbles.
