Château La Nerthe

Château La Nerthe is a highly renowned estate that has been owned by the Richard family since 1985 and is managed by Alain Dugas. The La Nerthe vineyard dates back to the 12th century, a time when the popes were French; its origins coincide with the introduction of vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the popes had chosen to spend their summers.

Located in the heart of the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, the Château La Nerthe vineyard enjoys a Mediterranean-style microclimate, with more than 200 days of sunshine per year. This warmth promotes early ripening of the grapes and allows for a harvest concentrated within a short timeframe. La Nerthe’s vines thrive on a diverse array of terraces and hillsides perched above the Rhône. The soils are clay or sandy-clay in texture and covered with a heavily stony layer—the famous rounded pebbles. At Château La Nerthe, vineyards have long been cultivated with the utmost respect for nature and the environment.
