Château La Nerthe

Château La Nerthe is a highly renowned estate that has been owned by the Richard family since 1985 and is managed by Alain Dugas. The La Nerthe vineyard dates back to the 12th century, to the time when the popes were French; its origins coincide with the introduction of vines to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the pontiffs had chosen to spend their summers.

Located in the heart of the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, the Château La Nerthe vineyard enjoys a Mediterranean-style microclimate, with over 200 days of sunshine per year. This warmth promotes early ripening of the grapes and allows for a harvest concentrated over a short period of time. La Nerthe’s vines thrive on a diverse array of terraces and hillsides perched above the Rhône. The soils are clay or sandy-clay in texture and covered with a heavily stony layer—the famous rounded pebbles. At Château La Nerthe, vineyards have long been cultivated with the utmost respect for nature and the environment.
