Roger Sabon

Roger Sabon
This family estate, acquired in 1952 by Roger Sabon, is located in the famous village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the southern Rhône Valley. The 18-hectare vineyard comprises 14 parcels in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, on the left bank of the Rhône.
The Sabon family is one of the oldest in Châteauneuf du Pape, and their wine-making has stood the test of time, passing from generation to generation. The vineyard is run in an environmentally-friendly manner, with no weedkillers and low yields to ensure the quality of the juice. In the cellar, Didier and Jean-Jacques work in tandem to bring out the full potential of the vineyard. Within the same appellation, three different geological profiles give the wines complementary qualities: the galets roulés bring tannic and aromatic strength; the sables and safres bring elegance and harmony; and the limestone terroir brings balance through acidity. Grenache is at the heart of Sabon's cuvées, expressing itself with power and elegance.

"Prestige!"

" In the top two to three wines of the vintage and as good as Grenache got in 2014, Châteauneuf du Pape Le Secret des Sabon (95% Grenache and 5% other authorized varieties) offers a wine with superb ripeness, medium to full-bodied, delivering pure, complex aromas of black cherry, licorice, cassis and garrigue flavors. It has lovely Grenache character, solid mid-palate depth and soft tannins on the finish. A vintage wine that will age well for a decade." ( Wine Advocate - Jeb Dunnuck)
