"A sublime Clairette with hints of white flowers and citrus notes!"
"Its slightly golden hue is followed by a magnificent aroma of white peach, tangy pineapple, brioche, and subtle hints of honeyed white flowers. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied, with a concentrated, pure, and elegant palate that shows beautiful depth and a superb finish. This is another remarkable white wine from this talented team that will benefit from aging in the bottle for a year or two and will continue to improve for about a decade.” (Jeb Dunnuck 2023)

About the estate:
The Château de Vaudieu, built in 1767 by Admiral Gérin, a lieutenant in the Marseille Admiralty, is one of three 18th-century châteaux in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The “Val de Dieu”—which gave rise to the name “Vaudieu”—now cultivates 70 hectares, restored under the leadership of Gabriel and Juliette Meffre, prominent wine merchants from Gigondas. In 1987, their daughter Sylvette Bréchet took over, joined in 1990 by her son Laurent, who undertook renovations to the winery to facilitate single-vineyard winemaking. The most recent vintages have been very successful, with a precise and powerful style in both white and red wines. Stay tuned!

Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100 (Outstanding wine)
About the wine:
Not vinified in 2021, the 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Clairette de Gabriel is quite different in style from the estate’s other whites. More understated, it offers alluring notes of toast and woody spices framing hints of pear and white peach. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, it has a silky texture thanks to barrel fermentation and time spent on the lees, with a long finish of spices and citrus. This is a solid wine that may have slightly more aging potential than the Grenache- or Roussanne-based vintages.

About the wine:
A well-crafted white wine, with creamy orchard fruit notes blended with a mineral-driven foundation. Richly styled yet perfectly balanced, with quinine-like acidity that keeps it focused and pure. It offers lovely hints of dried chamomile and heather, showcasing the beauty and potential of Clairette in this region. Enjoy now through 2030.
