"A sublime clairette with white floral and citrus notes!"
Its slightly golden hue is followed by a magnificent aroma of white peach, tangy pineapple, brioche, and subtle hints of honeyed white flowers. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied, concentrated, pure and elegant on the palate, with beautiful depth and a superb finish. This is another remarkable white from this talented team, which will benefit from aging in the bottle for a year or two and will improve for about ten years." (Jeb Dunnuck 2023)

About the estate:
The Château de Vaudieu, built in 1767 by Admiral Gérin, lieutenant of the Marseille admiralty, is one of three 18th-century châteaux in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The "Val de Dieu" (Valley of God), which gave rise to "Vaudieu," now covers 70 hectares, restored under the leadership of Gabriel and Juliette Meffre, leading wine merchants in Gigondas. In 1987, their daughter Sylvette Bréchet took over, joined in 1990 by her son Laurent, who undertook renovation work on the winery to facilitate plot-by-plot vinification. The latest vintages have been very successful, with a precise and powerful style, in both white and red. Watch this space!

Wine rating (2022 guide) 94/100 (Outstanding wine)
About wine:
Not vinified in 2021, the Châteauneuf du Pape Les Clairette de Gabriel 2022 is quite different in style from the other whites produced by this estate. More restrained, it offers seductive notes of toast and woody spices surrounding hints of pear and white peach. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, it is silky on the palate thanks to barrel fermentation and time spent on the lees, with a long finish of spices and citrus. This is a solid wine, which perhaps has a little more aging potential than the Grenache or Roussanne-based cuvées.

Wine rated 95/100 (Exceptional wine)
About wine:
A well-crafted white wine, with creamy orchard fruits blended with a mineral energy base. Richly styled but perfectly balanced, with quinine-like acidity that keeps it focused and pure. It offers lovely details of dried chamomile and heather, showcasing the beauty and potential of Clairette in this region. Drink now through 2030.
