Domaine Barge

Domaine Barge is a family-run business where Gilles and Alice Barge now work alongside their son Julien. Already winegrowers in Ampuis in 1860, the Barge family has continued uninterrupted to the present day. Pierre Barge, born in 1840, represents the first generation. He cultivated vines on the hillsides of Ampuis until phylloxera and its ravages forced him to migrate to Paris to find a livelihood. There he met his wife and returned to Ampuis in 1900. The vines could be replanted thanks to the discovery of grafting. He then returned to the profession he loved: winemaker.

The Domaine Barge vineyard is beautifully situated and covers 8.3 hectares: 6 hectares of Côte-Rôtie, 1 hectare of Condrieu, and 1.3 hectares of Saint-Joseph.

At Domaine Barge, every effort is made to ensure high-quality work, aided by modern technology. These techniques have become indispensable today in order to produce high-quality vintages that reflect their terroir.
