Domaine Rémi Niero - Côte-Rôtie Vires de Serine 2015
92/100
Robert Parker
Produced only in the best vintages, Vires de Serine is aged for 24 months in new barrels. This great Côte Rôtie reveals intense aromas of violets and black fruits. On the palate, the aromatic power is supported by racy and elegant tannins. The finish confirms this wine's aging potential.

About the estate:
Nestled in a small cul-de-sac in the heart of the village of Condrieu, Domaine Niero has only nine hectares of vines: four in Condrieu, two in Côte Rôtie, just over one in Saint-Joseph, and just under one in Crozes-Hermitage. There is also around one hectare dedicated to IGP Collines Rhodaniennes, both Syrah and Viognier. Although the clean and modern approach is undeniable, the wines are full of character and expressive of their different terroirs.

About the estate:
Since 2004, Rémi has been at the helm of this family estate, which boasts a beautiful range of terroirs in Condrieu, with 4 hectares divided into six plots. He also produces several Côte-Rôtie vintages from the Viallière and Bassenon terroirs, as well as a Saint-Joseph vintage, Bois Prieur, and another in Crozes-Hermitage. The wines are serious, rather classic, with sometimes a little aging that marks them during their youth.
