Domaine de la Biscarelle

The Domaine de la Biscarelle is located in the Grès district of Orange, halfway between the City of Princes and the famous village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It has been run by Jérôme Grieco and his wife Christelle since their first vintage in 2009. They manage the vineyard with skill and produce wines of exceptional quality. In 2013, La Revue du Vin de France awarded them the "Discovery of the Year" prize.

The Domaine de la Biscarelle vineyard spans 22 hectares of vines across two different appellations: Côtes du Rhône: 17 hectares of vines ranging from forty to eighty years old. Châteauneuf-du-Pape: 5 hectares (including some century-old plots) located in the northern part of the appellation, with vines primarily on hillsides, where the vines are set among their famous round pebbles that the mistral wind sweeps away year-round. Pesticide use is kept to a minimum, with all efforts focused on soil management.

At Domaine de la Biscarelle, the grapes are harvested in crates and sorted by hand at optimal ripeness; they are neither destemmed nor crushed. Aging takes place in concrete tanks in order to “maximize the expression of the terroir without imposing any artificiality upon it.”
