Vignerons d'Estézargues

The Cave des Vignerons d’Estézarguesis located in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône Villages, 10 kilometers south of Lirac. The terroir of Estézargues is typical of the appellation’s finest soils: rounded pebbles on clay, facing due south. Estézargues, a small village in the Gard department, is primarily known for its wine.

In 1965, seeking to pool their efforts, the winemakers of Estézargues began to come together by creating the Cave des Vignerons d’Estézargues, which at the time comprised about ten wineries. A quality policy was quickly implemented, leading to the sale of bottled wine from seven estates (Domaine de Pierredon, Domaine des Bacchantes, Domaine Grès St Vincent, Domaine d’Andézon, Domaine de Périllière, La Granacha, Domaine de la Montagnette, Domaine des Génestas), sales in bulk and in Bag-in-Box format, as well as three blended cuvées: Les Grandes Vignes, La Granacha, and Les Quarantièmes Rugissants, and a Gard regional wine, “Cuvée des Galets.”

The harvest from each estate is vinified separately to respect the identity of the winemakers and the terroirs. In the cellar, selected yeasts, filtration, fining, and any technologies that alter the wine’s character are strictly prohibited. Wine production is carried out without sulfur and at low temperatures to make the most of the fruit and the terroir’s potential.

United by a production and marketing approach that combines knowledge of the terroirs with mastery of winemaking techniques, the winemakers of Estézargues have undoubtedly sparked, through their approach, a genuine reflection on the future of viticulture. Thus, through their actions and the quality of their wines, the winemakers of Estézargues demonstrate that here, the concept of terroir is shared by everyone so that it can be better shared... with everyone.
