Domaine des Garriguettes

Sébastien Clément, a young winemaker, trained and oversaw winemaking operations in various countries around the world before joining the family business. Today, he runs the 24-hectare Domaine des Garriguettes, which was passed down to him by his grandfather Jean and his father Jean-Louis. The Garriguettes vineyard was the very first in the Villages Gadagne appellation to convert to organic farming and is now certified biodynamic (Demeter). Its hillside location, its terroir of rounded pebbles, its Mediterranean climate, and its exposure to the Mistral wind—which ensures a naturally healthy harvest—give Domaine des Garriguettes the distinctive character of a true terroir. 

Perched on the plateau of rounded pebbles in Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne, 15 km from Avignon, this small vineyard, blessed with wind and sunshine, has long been renowned for the richness of its wines. The Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Gadagne AOP is: a small appellation covering 250 hectares, including 170 hectares of vineyards; a vineyard once claimed by the Popes of Avignon (boundary markers still in place), located 15 km east of Avignon on the first hill; a plateau at an altitude of 115 meters consisting of rounded pebbles on a bed of reddish-ochre clay with filtering properties that ensures the vines’ water needs are met even during the hottest part of summer; just 6 estates and a cooperative winery.
