The Joncier Estate Located between the villages of Tavel and Lirac, the estate was founded in 1964 by Pierre Roussel, an agricultural engineer. In 1970, the estate’s winery was established in the heart of the beautiful village of Tavel. Since 1989, his daughter Marine Roussel has given the estate a new lease on life. The allure of this exceptional terroir, the power of the land, and the magic of the vineyard and wine won her over. Today, she runs the estate with passion.

In 1989, Marine Roussel, a graphic designer by trade and the daughter of Pierre Roussel, returned to the family estate—a homecoming of sorts—and breathed new life into the Domaine du Joncier. Self-taught, she learned the craft of winemaking in her own way, through encounters with others and her own reading.

Today, the Domaine du Jonciercomprises 32 hectares of vineyards located in Tavel; the vineyards are cultivated using biodynamic methods, and the wines are Demeter-certified. The determined Marine Roussel trusts in her Lirac terroir and the grape varieties—Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah, and others—prioritizing low yields, gentle and minimally interventionist winemaking (no yeasts, no oak), and very long macerations. She crafts wines that are true to themselves, intense without being excessive, and distinguished without being feminine. A balancing act between the soul of the terroir, the character of the grape variety, and the creativity of a winemaker who has finally found her path.
