Rated wine (2014 guide) A great success (2013 vintage)
Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
Sylvain Morey is a native of Chassagne-Montrachet. For this son of Burgundy, white wines hold few, if any, secrets. But it was in the Luberon region that he set out to prove himself, producing both white and red wines there. After studying oenology, he left his native Burgundy for the Luberon in 1995, along with his wife Ludmila. There, they leased some old vineyards. While Sylvain Morey is well-versed in single-varietal winemaking, here he had to adapt to a multi-varietal approach and diverse terroirs, which he blends in the cellar—the only way to produce great wines. This estate produces approachable, complex, and well-balanced wines. The whites are remarkable—arguably the finest wines of the appellation—while the reds speak loud and clear of their native soil.
