Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

Marrenon is one of France's most sophisticated cooperatives. It brings together nine wineries, no less than 7,600 hectares of vineyards, and has bottled more than 85% of the Luberon's annual production for 40 years. This is a remarkable feat in terms of quality, as evidenced by a very diverse and comprehensive range of wines. These wines are deliciously fruity, without losing sight of their terroir of origin.

A young, powerful wine that needs to be decanted or aerated. Excellent value for money.

I find this wine very characteristic of the Luberon region, with a lovely length and fruitiness. A perfect wine for summer cuisine.

Review and opinion by Mr. FRANCOIS C. Published on 04/06/2014

This wine gave me a hard time when it came to forming an opinion (an amateur's opinion, that is...). The color is red, neither light nor dark. It is crystal clear. The initial nose did not offer a powerful bouquet, but there were some fruity notes nonetheless. However, there were some issues on the palate. Not tannic at all, this wine reminded me of the worst hours of winemaking. At first, I had the impression that I was drinking the best of fine chemistry... Once the surprise had passed, the wine was quite drinkable. Yes, yes! With a moderately long finish, it will suit less sensitive palates like mine. A nice little wine to drink with marinated skewers in the summer. That's why I gave it a 4. I even think I'll recommend a few bottles given its original character.
