"A superb terroir"

"Still in barrel when I tasted it, the 2020 Saint Joseph Bois Prieur comes from the granite soils of Saint Pierre de Boeuf. It has lovely herbaceous and smoky nuances, ripe cherry baskets, a fleshy medium-bodied to full-bodied palate, and a persistent finish that is both silky and lively. Drink young, within the next 5 years or so." (Wine Advocate 2022).

About wine:

Still in barrel when I tasted it, the Saint Joseph Bois Prieur 2020 comes from the granite soils of Saint Pierre de Boeuf. It has lovely herbaceous and smoky nuances, ripe cherry aromas, a fleshy medium-bodied to full-bodied palate, and a lingering finish that is both silky and lively. Drink it young, within the next 5 years or so.

About the estate:

Nestled in a small cul-de-sac in the heart of the village of Condrieu, Domaine Niero has only nine hectares of vines: four in Condrieu, two in Côte Rôtie, just over one in Saint-Joseph, and just under one in Crozes-Hermitage. There is also around one hectare dedicated to IGP Collines Rhodaniennes, both Syrah and Viognier. Although the clean and modern approach is undeniable, the wines are full of character and expressive of their different terroirs.

About the estate:

Since 2004, Rémi has been at the helm of this family estate, which boasts a beautiful range of terroirs in Condrieu, with 4 hectares divided into six plots. He also produces several Côte-Rôtie vintages from the Viallière and Bassenon terroirs, as well as a Saint-Joseph vintage, Bois Prieur, and another in Crozes-Hermitage. The wines are serious, rather classic, with sometimes a little aging that marks them during their youth.
