About the wine:
A “solidarity” wine born from a blend (Macabeu, White Grenache, Viognier) selected by a panel of 80 women. In the glass, it’s a lovely floral, fruity, and mineral white wine that offers liveliness, body, great length, and a very assured balance. It pairs well with ceviche or grilled octopus.
About the estate:
The village of Cases-de-Pène takes its name from a 10th-century hermitage built on a limestone rock (pena in Catalan) that closes off the Agly Valley. The black schist soils alternate with the ochre-colored clay-limestone soils, forming two superb terroirs where the twenty or so winemakers of the local cooperative—founded in 1942 and representing 280 hectares of vineyards—work.
