Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

At 31, Vincent Alexis embodies the new generation of winemakers who are shaking things up in the Bergerac region. Until he joined the Pompois estate in 2009, his parents sold their entire production in bulk. The young winemaker, who honed his craft at estates around the world, changed course to bottle Bergerac, Pécharmant, and Monbazillac wines. He is gradually converting his 42 hectares to organic farming and released his first vintage in 2010. Fruit-forward and unadorned, the reds are lightly extracted and easy to drink; the spontaneity of the dry whites delights us, and the sweet whites reveal elegant, refreshing sugars. Delicious bottles for discerning bistro-goers. Featured in 2011 in our Red Guide to Wine Bargains, Vincent Alexis continues to improve and fully deserves his place in this year’s Green Guide.
