Château de Pierreux

Château de Pierreux is one of the most beautiful estates in the Beaujolais region. The building’s courtyard faces Mont Brouilly, a beautiful hill covered in vineyards. The Beaujolais vineyards are characterized by very dense planting, oriented toward all points of the compass.

Located in Odenas, Château de Pierreux sits on limestone soil, typical of the Mâconnais region, whereas granite predominates in the Beaujolais terroir. For millennia, the hillsides have been home to vines growing on a bed of porphyry, schist, pebbles, and silica.

Château de Pierreux stands amidst a hundred hectares of land. Its vineyard estate, meanwhile, spans seventy-seven hectares where the Gamay grape variety reigns supreme. The vineyard is managed sustainably, notably through the use of horses to cultivate the narrowest and most inaccessible rows, and by hand-harvesting the grapes.
