“While Alain Dugoujard uses the Beaujolais semi-carbonic vinification method, he destems 100% of his grapes, just as in Burgundy. His 2015 vintage charmed our tasters, both with its aromas of black fruit and bigarreau cherries and with its remarkably balanced palate, built on fine, perfectly integrated tannins. ” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2017 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Château de Pierreux is the Boisset Group’s flagship estate in the Beaujolais region. Since its acquisition in 2002, the property has been beautifully restored. Located at the foot of Mont Brouilly, on stony soil that gave the place its name, the eponymous cuvée is well-structured, though perhaps at the expense of finesse.
